Trend Alert - Ombré

Ombré - oh how we love you! For those of you who are not familiar, ombré is the french word for shaded. This trend has been hot, hot, hot all spring and will continue to be even bigger this fall.  There are so many ways you can incorporate ombré in your wedding from cakes to flowers to dresses, the opportunities are endless. The use of a monochromatic color scheme in varying shades adds an edgy element to an elegant style and we are in love!

Our personal favorite is through cakes! Not only can bakers use bright hues with icing, but they can also dye the tiers of cake inside for a sweet surprise for all!

If you want this look for your wedding, our suggestion would be to go to your local hardware or paint store and start choosing pain swatches in the colors you like the best. Most paint swatches are displayed from the lightest to the darkest shade so it will be easier to choose the color combinations perfect for you.

We want to know what you think! How are you planning on incorporating ombré into your wedding? Post comments below, we would love to hear your thoughts and ideas!

Happy Anniversary!

This time last year the universal buzz about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding had reached an all time high.  One year later, there is proof that the marriage of a modern-day prince and princess can shape weddings across the world. As the happy couple celebrates their love in private we feel it’s necessary to reminisce on a beautiful day in history.

From bridal runways to a trend in white wedding cakes, couples are taking inspiration from the royal wedding for their own special day.  The craze has transformed the beloved sweetheart-neckline wedding dress to one with lace and sleeves and has brought the lace trimmed veil back to life. Just weeks ago, designers like Carolina Herrera and Monique Lhuillier sent collections down the runway with several inspirations from Kate and Pippa Middleton’s uniquely beautiful gowns.

Wedding cakes with traditional piped icing has peaked once again, and couples across the country are requesting royal white wedding cakes to accompany their big day.  The number of people opting to get married in a church has increased five percent from last year, the first increase in ten years!

We want to hear what you think! What are you favorite memories from this special day in history?
